The Professional Muskie Angler Circuit™ (Pro-MAC™) hosted the Muskie Guerdon Open Championship™ on the Three Lakes Chain this past Father's Day Weekend on June 15th and 16th. The Three Lakes Muskie Guerdon™ was the second qualifying event of a six tournament schedule for the 2013 Pro-MAC™ season and as if on cue, the volatile weather that has plagued this tournament season would play a very important role in the outcome of the event. Eleven muskies would be registered on a rain soaked, lightning intruded, Saturday and three muskies on a sun worshiper's Sunday.

Although the Saturday's fishing started out slow, beginning at 7:24am a hot bite had tallied six muskies measuring over 34 inches in just an hour and nine minutes, but then the rains came effectively shutting down a very active frenzy, so much so, that in the following six and a half hours only five more muskies would be scored. At 7:24am, the father and son team of Joe and Prescott Mahner would tally the first fish of the day, a 35.75 incher. Shortly afterward, another father and son team of Tim and Tom Mathu would score on a dandy 43 1/4 “ muskie at 7:35am giving the duo the early lead. Four more muskies would be tallied before the rain deluge with Kent Stadler and Doug Bloch 36.75 incher at 7:50am, Neil Barnet and Bill Hill's 39.75” at 8:00am, Bob Parteka and Joel McClung 39.50 at 8:15am, with the final muskie of the surge coming from Jared Adamovich and Justin Reynolds at 8:33am scoring 39 inches. Even though the weathers turn for the worst would spell tough going for the competitors, the largest muskie of the day would come at this down time by Gene Erickson who was fishing alone, tallying a 44.50 lunker at 9:30am.

Other teams to score on muskies were: Bruce Gruening Tim Pearson 38.25 at 10:05am, Kevin Black & Phil Graham 35.50 at 1:29pm, Sam Ubl & James Formolo 40.50 at 2:35pm and Tony & Kyle Warkoczewski 41 at 2:59pm.

Saturday's precipitation gave way to Sunday's clear skies forcing the competitors to have a very short term memory of the previous day's patterns and formulate an entirely different game plan to battle the resident muskies. Sunday's dramatic weather change coupled with the shorten hours of competition and the negative attitudes of the muskies, only three muskies would be scored for the day from two teams. Mike and Dan Wojtusik would tally the first two muskies of the day with a hefty 43 ½ incher at 7:22am and another nice fish of 41 inches at 10:01am giving the team the only double for the contest and the trophy. The final muskie of the contest would be captured by Tim Rutzen and Ryan Bock at 10:36am with a 36 ¼ incher.
