The Professional Muskie Angler Circuit™ (Pro-MAC™) concluded the fourth qualifying tournament of the 2013 regular season at the Three Lakes Chain Muskie Summit Open™ over the weekend of August 3rd and 4th.  Although the muskie action was good with numerous muskies (more than 40) greater than 30 inches but under the allowed 34 inches tournament limit were reported to have been captured and released by the competitors, only nine muskies over 34 inches would be registered by tournament anglers for the event.

Both days of the Three Lakes Muskie Summit™ weather forecast promised to be the best the World Muskie Tournament Series™ (WMT Series™) had witnessed all tournament season long, but the cold nights preceding the tournament and its continuation during the event dropped the water temps to the mid 60 degree temps making for unseasonable conditions and a lethargic attitude with the larger fish creating a predominately afternoon bite.  However, on Saturday, Scott and Kevin Abendroth were able to score early on a 38 ½ incher at 6:32am.  As the day progressed and the waters warmed, four muskies would be tallied after noon with the first coming at 12:10pm from Aaron Stack and Justin Johnson with a 36 ¼ incher followed at 12:40pm when Ryan Bock and Tim Rutzen scored on the biggest muskie of the day with a 44 ¾ incher.  The last two muskies would score one minute a part with Don Groskopf and Dan Winkler tallying a 44 ½” muskie at 2:07 and at 2:08pm, Ryan and Ron Meyer landed a 34 ¼ incher.

Phil Markgraf and Randy Kauranen didn’t waste any time on Sunday to get on the score sheet when they registered a 36 ½” muskie at 6:30am.  At 7:45am the tournament was all but over when Stack and Johnson tallied their second muskie of the event that measured 38 ½ incher, being the only team to double up for the tourney.  At 10:52am, Todd Emro and Mike McCarthy would score on a 35 ¾ inch muskie.  The largest muskie of the day and the last fish of the tournament would come from Neil Barnett and Bill Hill at 11:00am measuring 40 ½ inches.
